Research Paper

A research paper is a type of prose used by both students and professionals in investigating a specific topic, or group of topics. Research is deemed necessary for students primarily because it helps them in the exploration and understanding of new things that may be of great benefit to them in the future.

Students who engage themselves in research are more likely to retain the information they have investigated. Research often leads to the discovery of new ideas that may be unknown to many. From the start of the research, the students are tasked to gather pertinent data, which may be of great help in the fulfillment of their research. Moreover, several steps are recommended in making the research paper as accurate and as effective as possible.

The students decide what topic they plan to investigate on. The topics may be anything under the sun. From the simplest thing to the most complicated of subjects and topics. Students are given the freehand to explore their world more. Data gathering follows after, wherein students are given the necessary time gather the pertinent information needed for the paper. After much information is gathered, these are reviewed and used as reference for the paper. Notes are taken down, so that more applicable content may be facilitated in the completion of the paper. This is deemed necessary so as to alleviate understanding, making the paper more concise and clear.

After the note taking process, the outline should be developed. The outline is considered to be one of the most important factors in the creation of a research paper. This is due to the fact that an outline consists of the main information that should be included in a paper. The outline would also serve as the guide as to how the paper would sound. Although some people may find it difficult to do outlines, these usually help in keeping thoughts organized and intact.

Writing research papers is relatively easy. All information gathered through the investigatory stage is compiled together, to give more sense to the paper. However, certain rules should also be taken into consideration. Although research papers are relatively longer than the usual essays, they should still adhere to the required format. The paper should always include an introduction, a body, and a conclusion.

The introduction of the research paper is the first part found in any text. This paragraph normally contains catchy words and phrases, that would help attract the attention of the readers. This is very important that the first part of the paper gives the readers a glimpse of the overall subject and theme. Without an effective introductory paragraph, the readers may give an impression that the paper is not good enough, and should not be given ample time. In so doing, this would actually prevent readers from grasping what has been initially written. For research paragraphs, the thesis statement is normally found at the end of this paragraph.

The body immediately follows after the introductory paragraph. Normally, this does not only include one paragraph, but also several supporting paragraphs. These paragraphs contain the intended message of the paper, and have been introduced in the first paragraph. For research papers, these paragraphs usually contain the pertinent information about the specific topic being focused on. In addition to this, the results obtained from the study are also incorporated in this part of the paper. The supporting information makes the readers understand the paper more, digging in to more details.

After the readers have read and understood the paper, the thought of the paper is wrapped up in the concluding paragraph. This paragraph summarizes all of the important information mentioned in the entire paper. The purpose of such is to refresh the minds of the readers of what the thesis statement is, with its corresponding sub points. In addition to this, the possible recommendations to future researchers are also given in this paragraph.
